About Me

My name is Dylan Stalter and I am a sports journalist from Long Island, NY. I am currently a sophomore at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, studying at the Hussman School of Journalism and Media. I am a contributor on the sports desk at The Daily Tar Heel as well as a reporter for Sports Xtra.

My Story

As long as I can remember, I have been in love with college sports. My Saturday mornings growing up always consisted of turning on ESPN’s College Gameday and listening to legends like Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit talk ball. There was always something fascinating to me about these teams; from the passionate fans and players to the highlights of a college town, I was hooked.

Since my middle school days, I knew I wanted a career in sportscasting. Inspired by the legendary Doc Emrick’s calls watching NHL on NBC, it was incredible to see how the broadcast could elevate the emotion of the game. I took courses covering all the basics of sports broadcasting and journalism and joined my high school’s student newspaper, covering my local varsity sports teams.

This all factored into my decision to attend UNC. Chapel Hill was the epitome of a college town and boasted one of the best athletic institutes in the country. Along with a journalism school decorated in success that would push me to pursue excellence, I knew I found a home.
